Horse Abuse and Rescue

Not really what I wanted to write ending this year and going into the promise of the next, but the inhumanity that humans do to horses is not confined by the calendar. The good people at Perfect Harmony Horse Rescue & Sanctuary in Chaparral, New Mexico took in three (3) severely neglected horses on 29 December, confiscated by the New Mexico Livestock Board. Their New Years and the weeks and months following will be spent checking on these horses and providing small amounts at feed at 2-3 hour intervals round the clock.

This Rescue, chaired by Marianne Bailey and staffed with her husband Dan and daughter Jessica as well as several volunteers, see the worst in humans and the poorest horses. They never say no, even though it is usually a costly endeavor in funds, labor and the emotional toll, to provide neglected horses with sometimes just days of relief.

To the readers - I'm sorry to ruin your day by displaying pictures of these three horses below, but this is what Marianne and crew deal with on a routine basis. Perfect Harmony is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit and can surely use financial help. No donation is too small as they face a mounting feed, Veterinarian and Farrier bill to care for these horses.

If anyone can donate, these are the modes they can accept:

PayPal at their e-mail, perfectharmony1@aol.com

Venmo at Marianne-Bailey-8

Cash App at $Perfect HarmonyRescue

Checks sent to Perfect Harmony Rescue, 636 Palmas, Chaparral, New Mexico 88081

For The Love of a Horse Update

For The Love of a Horse (FTLOAH) is a Roswell, Georiga based tax exempt, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization comprised of volunteers dedicated to the resuce and rehabilitation of equines, specifically those with critical care needs that would otherwise be euthanized.

A visit by FTLOAH to the Somerby Assisted Living Center on October 4, 2012, covered by CNN covered this event where For The Love Of A Horse brought a mini and a donkey out to meet the residents.   Judging by the smiles on the faces of the residents this visit brought a lot of joy to these people.

The latest rescue case for FTLOAH is Chief, an Appaloosa gelding approximatley 13 years old. As with most rescue horses, their history is often a mystery other than the obvious fact they were not cared for. Chief is three legged lame due to an injury to his right front pastern, which is probably why he was abandoned. Veternarian Dr. Randy Eggleston at the University of Georgia, believes Chief can be helped and FTLOAH is raising money to pay for surgery scheduled at the University of Georgia this coming week.

This organization can use a hand to continue doing good things for equines and humans alike. There is a pay pal link on their website if you could donate. For further information contact: Miaka D. Palmieri, President, "For The Love Of A Horse" www.fortheloveofahorse.org Telephone: 404.680.0392

For The Love Of A Horse - Horse Rescue

I have never heard of this organization, For The Love Of A Horse (FTLOAH), until a recent newspaper article caught my eye. This organization is based in Roswell, Georgia and is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization of volunteers dedicated to the resuce and rehabilitation of horses specifically having critcial care needs who would otherwise be euthanized.

As if caring for abused, neglected and sick horses is not enough, this organization has a "horses healing humans" outreach program visting the elderly and children.  We all know that the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a person, and FTLOAH is putting it into practice.

One of the rescue stories is a miniature paint pony named Bishop where the previous owners, trying to cut costs, tied Bishop to a tree while they gelded him without anesthesia. Bishop ripped away from the tree in pain severing his ear and part of his lip in the process. If I found found someone doing that, I think I would whip them raw with my lariat then drag them a few miles through cactus,.....people who mistreat animals are a disgrace to the human race.

Anyway, for anyone looking for charitable cause, FTLOAH accepts donations,...in fact needs donations,..in order to help these horses. Donations link is accessible through their website, http://www.fortheloveofahorse.org/and you also "like" them on Facebook.
